Since it is Python it should work with any operating system that can use Python and a serial port. You will likely need a serial to RS-485 converter or a USB to RS-485 converter to make communication possible. This implementation is not complete but it is functional. I have developed a much more complete version in posix C but that is not public yet. -

Crow is C++ microframework for web. (inspired by Python Flask). If you just want to use crow, copy amalgamate/crow_all.h and include it. C++ compiler with good C++11 support (tested with g++>=4.8). Provide an amalgamated header file crow_all.h with every features. Handler arguments type check at compile time.
