Free live TV on your computer
Zattoo is a free service that streams live television to your PC. Most channels it offers are local to your region, but there are also some international stations available, such as Bloomberg and Press TV.
How to get started
Create a Zattoo account on the website and install the desktop client. After logging in, the app displays the channels available in your area so you can quickly see what’s on.
Playback and stability
When you tune to a channel, a short 10–15 second advertisement plays before the stream begins. Once past the ad, the feed is generally stable and the video quality is good.
Navigation and scheduling tools
Zattoo includes a TV guide to help you plan viewing and discover upcoming programs. You can also search for specific channels from within the client.
Limitations to be aware of
- There are no user-adjustable picture-quality options.
- The interface language cannot be changed from within the app.
- The client does not provide a built-in recording feature.
Because of these limits, there are relatively few advanced features beyond basic viewing and the program guide.
Who this suits
If you don’t have a television set at home or need to watch regional TV while traveling, Zattoo is a convenient, free solution.
Alternative option
TvAnts (free) is a commonly recommended alternative for users looking for different channel lineups or features.
