Colonize a Strange Planet
Wastelander is an early-access, premium turn-based strategy title focused on establishing a settlement on a desolate alien world. The game uses seeded, procedurally generated maps that give each playthrough a roguelike sense of unpredictability and high replay value.
How the Game Feels to Play
Controls and mechanics are straightforward to pick up, but mastering the systems takes time. You begin with a mostly empty area and must expand your foothold by building defenses and unlocking new structures. Because the terrain and resource placements change every run, every session presents fresh tactical dilemmas.
Expansion, Discovery, and Progression
- Construct defensive installations, unearth abandoned alien sites, and collect supply crates scattered across the landscape.
- Research and upgrade facilities using recovered ancient technology and gather relics that influence your colony’s capabilities. As you extend your influence, previously hidden portions of the map become visible. Placing buildings thoughtfully will illuminate dark zones and expose supply caches and mysterious ruins that can be explored or scavenged for advantage.
Turn-Based Tension and Environmental Hazards
The turn-based structure limits the number of actions you can take each round, so planning is essential. After you finish your moves, the environment responds — sometimes with benign shifts, sometimes with devastating storms or other events that can cripple an ill-prepared colony. Resource scarcity and action limits prevent reckless expansion.
Single-Player Focus
Wastelander is designed solely as a single-player experience. There is no multiplayer cooperative or competitive mode; survival depends entirely on your strategy and decision-making against the planet itself.
