Strengthen your lock screen with voice recognition

Voice Screen Lock is a free app that protects your device using spoken authentication. Before you record a spoken passcode, grant the app the permissions it requests. In addition to voice-based unlocking, the app offers several themed lock-screen backgrounds to personalize your phone’s appearance.

How to set up a spoken passcode

1. Open the app and choose the menu option labeled “Voice Select.”
2. Pick a security question and enter the answer you’ll remember.
3. Tap the microphone icon and speak the passphrase you want to use.
4. Optionally, enable up to two additional backup unlock methods so you can still access your device if you can’t use your voice.

Backup unlock options

• Pattern Lock — draw a pattern to unlock if your spoken passcode fails.
• Current Time Lock — unlock based on the device’s current clock time.
• PIN Lock — enter a numeric PIN as an alternate access method.

Use one or more of these fallbacks to avoid being locked out if the voice recognition doesn’t accept your passcode.

Privacy notes and limitations

The app helps keep curious hands off your device by using voice credentials and backup methods, but it isn’t perfect. You must allow the requested permissions for the voice feature to work. Also, the app displays a persistent “Reserved for Ads Space” banner that cannot be removed.
