Snapshot of the app
Vibe is an experimental tool designed to pull together public online profiles for a person when you search their name or email. Its goal is to give you a quick view of who someone is by aggregating available information from social networks and other public sources. The service is currently in Beta, so results can be inconsistent but are expected to improve over time.
How to try Vibe
- Click the Vibe icon in the top-right corner of Chrome to open the extension.
- Sign up for an account if you haven't already, then sign in with your credentials.
- Enter the person’s email address (or name) into the search box to begin the lookup.
- Review the aggregated results that Vibe returns from a range of public sites.
Sources Vibe checks
- Klout
- MySpace
Vibe searches the usual social networks and some older or niche profile sites, so it may pick up multiple places where a person has left traces.
What it does well
- Fast, one-click access from the browser toolbar.
- Pulls together links to known social profiles and public accounts.
- Offers a simple, minimal interface suitable for a quick check.
Known problems and caveats
- Accuracy varies: some results point to outdated or irrelevant pages (for example, defunct MySpace profiles or WordPress Gravatar links).
- Biographical summaries are only reliable for people who are prominent online or have many public profiles.
- Limited feature set — Vibe mainly aggregates links and short snippets rather than offering deep profile analysis.
Platform support
Vibe works as a Google Chrome extension and also has a standalone Mac OS X app. There is no native Windows desktop client available.
Alternatives and final recommendation
Best fallback: use a conventional web search (e.g., Google) when Vibe’s results are incomplete. That approach is free and often returns more accurate, up-to-date information across major sites. Until Vibe’s matching improves beyond Beta, a manual search is generally more dependable.
