What this app does

Timelapse for Sony cameras is a free Android utility that lets you remote-trigger your Sony camera to capture a sequence of still images. It gives you control over timing and lets you view the most recent shot. The app does not assemble the captured images into a time-lapse video — it only records individual photos.

How to connect and important setup notes

• Put the camera into the “Ctrl w/ Smartphone” or equivalent remote-control mode before connecting.
• If your camera supports NFC, you can pair it with the phone that way for a faster connection.
• Some Sony cameras don’t include the Remote Control app by default. If your camera lacks it, download the official Remote Control plugin from Sony’s app store on the camera.

Storage and output

• All photos captured via the app are stored on the camera’s SD card.
• The application does not create or export a combined time-lapse video — you’ll need to assemble images into a video using separate software if you want a finished movie.
