Story and objective
Step into the role of Thor in a 3D action-adventure inspired by the motion picture. You take command of the Norse champion and travel the Nine Realms on a loose adaptation of the film’s storyline. The core mission is to join Asgard’s finest fighters and push back the dark forces led by Malekith.
Scope and structure
The game contains over ninety individual missions spread across a variety of realms. Your task is to clear each area of hostile forces, calling upon seven distinct types of Asgardian allies to assist during combat. As encounters grow tougher, you’ll need to strengthen both Thor and your summoned warriors to survive increasingly challenging battles.
Progression and in-game economy
Advancement comes from completing objectives and unlocking achievements, though optional purchases can speed up progress. You improve attributes such as power, magic, and equipment to handle stronger foes. Be aware that you can grind earlier levels to farm resources, but this repetitive loop can become tiresome.
- Runes (used for upgrading and obtaining weapons)
- ISO-008 (another upgrade currency)
- Uru (the resource required to call allies into battle)
Control scheme and combat mechanics
Rather than a virtual joystick, movement and combat are handled via touch gestures, similar to dungeon-crawler controls. Tap where you want Thor to go and use on-screen gestures to attack and trigger abilities. Special moves and ally summons are executed with dedicated buttons.
- Draw a lightning-shaped gesture to unleash Thor’s thunder attack
- Swipe with two fingers to fire projectiles and smash breakable scenery
- Tap an enemy to perform a standard strike
- Tap the playfield to direct Thor’s movement
- Use action buttons to call Asgardian backup and trigger special skills
Presentation: visuals and audio
The title delivers polished 3D visuals and richly detailed backdrops that give it a cinematic feel comparable to other high-profile superhero mobile tie-ins. The score is appropriately epic, and voice work is competent, contributing to a movie-like atmosphere.
Final assessment
While the combat and cooperative feel with summoned heroes will appeal to Thor enthusiasts, the game offers little new to the crowded top-down action genre. The repetitiveness of mission farming and the limits imposed by free-to-play mechanics may frustrate players seeking fresh or more balanced experiences.
