Quick summary
TekTopia is a villager overhaul mod for Minecraft 1.12.2 that turns village management into a mayor-style experience. You guide the settlement’s priorities, recruit and equip villagers, and add new structures to grow your town. The mod is built around crafting and villager-driven systems and is only officially compatible with Minecraft 1.12.2.
Growing your settlement
There are several ways to expand your village — choose the methods that fit your playstyle:
- Erect new buildings and infrastructure to unlock more jobs and services.
- Recruit additional villagers to fill roles and increase productivity.
- Purchase goods and upgrades to speed development and access new features.
Keep in mind: many tools and supplies are consumed by occupations and for survival, so manage resources carefully as you grow.
Money and resource management
Currency in TekTopia is emeralds. You can earn emeralds by selling items, but avoid liquidating essentials:
- Sell surplus items to generate emeralds for purchases, but preserve what your workforce needs.
- Monitor what villagers require for their professions so you don’t deplete crucial supplies.
Maintaining villager happiness is also important — content citizens work more reliably and keep the town functioning smoothly.
Creating your Town Hall
The Town Hall is the central structure that allows you to add and manage other buildings. You have two main routes to obtain the Town Hall structure marker:
- Craft a Town Hall Marker yourself using the mod’s recipe and materials.
- Use the structure marker found in an already-generated TekTopia village if you locate one.
When starting from a naturally generated settlement, vanilla (unmodified) villagers will not appear; instead, TekTopia villagers will populate the houses and display valid structure identifiers near entrances.
Structure requirements and placement
Essential buildings require proper structure tokens and a valid doorway setup. For a structure to count as legitimate, follow these requirements (presented in a different order):
- The interior must have a flat floor that extends to the base of the door and the building must be roofed.
- Place the structure token for that specific building in an item frame placed by the door.
- Use a wooden door with an item frame mounted directly above or adjacent to the top of the door.
Architects in-game will sell many of the structure markers you need; place those tokens in the Town Hall (or the appropriate building’s item frame) to register the structure.
Who should play and compatibility notes
TekTopia shifts Minecraft toward a management/tycoon feel and works best for players who enjoy deep crafting systems and micromanagement. Important compatibility notes:
- The mod is officially supported only on Minecraft 1.12.2.
- Unless you can apply community patches or modify the mod yourself, it will not run on newer Minecraft releases.
