What Stylish is and what it does

Stylish — Custom themes for any website is a free browser add-on from Userstyles.org that changes how websites look by applying custom CSS. It gives you access to a large library of community-made themes you can apply to individual pages or entire domains. If you know how to write CSS, you can craft your own themes; if not, you can request or download designs shared by other creators. There’s also an active creator community on Discord you can join to request or find new styles.

Getting started quickly

• Install the Stylish extension from your browser’s add-on store.
• Pin the extension icon to your toolbar so you can toggle themes quickly.
• Visit a website whose appearance you want to change.

How to apply a theme on a site

• Click the Stylish icon in your browser toolbar to open the extension menu.
• In the popup, you’ll typically see the top six available themes for the site you’re viewing.
• If you want more choices, select “Find more styles for this site” from the popup.
• When you find a design you like, choose “Install Style” to apply it to the current site or domain.

Managing, editing, and creating styles

• Use “Manage All Styles” to edit, update, enable/disable, or remove any styles you’ve installed.
• If you want to make a custom theme, click “Create New Style.” Be aware that this feature assumes some familiarity with CSS and doesn’t include a step-by-step beginner tutorial.
• Note: the popup’s suggestions and the library view are specific to the website you currently have open, so you’ll need to visit different sites to see their separate style options.

Who will enjoy Stylish?

• If you like personalizing interfaces and changing the visual feel of websites, Stylish is a simple and fun tool to try.
• If you aren’t comfortable with CSS, you’ll rely mostly on the pre-made themes in the library or on community designers to produce the exact look you want.
