Cast Chrome tabs and apps to your TV
If you have a working home internet connection and a Google Chromecast device, you can send content from Chrome on your computer or phone straight to your television. The Google Play TV app (available in the Play Store) makes it easy to find and launch compatible titles for casting.
Which content can you stream?
You can browse the Google Play catalog inside the app and play items that support casting. Only content that the app or the linked service permits will stream to your TV — not every web video is guaranteed to cast. Supported streaming services that integrate with Chromecast will appear alongside your Google Play purchases and rentals.
Downloading for offline playback
Google Play TV also lets you download purchased or rent-ready videos onto your mobile device so you can watch without an active internet connection. Downloads require sufficient local storage (internal memory or an SD card, if your device supports one).
Alternatives worth considering
- Chromecast — the official hardware option for casting (commercial device, paid hardware).
- Screen Mirror 2 — a third-party app for mirroring device screens and streaming local media.
