Game Summary
SpellForce: Heroes & Magic brings the SpellForce universe to iPhone with a turn-based strategy focus that departs from the series’ original real-time gameplay. The full release lets you build and expand a fantasy realm through a structured 13-mission campaign or by battling AI opponents on procedurally generated maps in a free-play mode.
How the Modes Work
- Campaign: follow a 13-mission storyline that guides empire building and tactical progression.
- Free Play: face off against computer-controlled adversaries on randomly generated maps for open-ended skirmishes.
Playable Nations and Neutral Forces
- Humans
- Orcs
- Dark Elves
In addition to the three playable factions, the maps host six neutral groups that can be captured or allied with as part of your expansion strategy.
Combat and Tactical Layer
- Enemy types you may encounter include Spiders and Berserkers.
- Deployable units range from Knights to Archers.
Battles occur on hex-based grids using simultaneous turns: each side plans actions and then those actions resolve together. This design rewards forethought and prediction, since your moves are executed at the same time as your opponent’s.
Strategic Objectives
Cities, resource nodes, and neutral settlements are key targets for conquest. Controlling them fuels troop recruitment and growth of your realm, while smart positioning and unit composition determine success in the simultaneous-turn battles.
If You Want Something Different
If you prefer a different pace or a more relaxed, life-and-farm experience, many players often cite Stardew Valley as an alternative outside this genre.
