Getting Started: How to Open and Use SpaceEye

After installation, SpaceEye lives in your system tray. Click its icon to open a side panel that displays a 3x4 grid (12 tiles) of live Earth images. Each tile shows a current capture from one of the supported weather satellites. The app automatically searches for and downloads newer captures at frequent intervals so your display remains fresh.

To change app preferences, click the three-dot menu in the panel. From there you can enable options like launching the program at system startup and allowing automatic updates when new releases are available.

Which Satellites It Uses

SpaceEye displays imagery from several meteorological satellites, for example:

• GOES-16 (East)
• GOES-17 (West)
• Himawari-8

Update cadence varies by viewpoint and satellite; images refresh roughly every 10 minutes up to about once per hour.

Important Limitations to Know

• You cannot save or export the satellite images directly to your computer from within the app.
• There is no built-in way to specify a custom wallpaper resolution, which can make achieving a perfect desktop fit difficult.
