MacBook temperature monitoring — quick overview
SensorX is a small utility that records both current and past CPU temperature extremes. It keeps track of temperature trends and runs unobtrusively in the background, providing easy access from the macOS menu bar.
Notification and alarm behavior
If the processor temperature exceeds a user-defined ceiling, SensorX will alert you. Notifications can be delivered as on-screen messages and/or with an audible warning so you won’t miss a critical rise in heat.
Temperature readouts available
- Per-core averages and historical temperature traces, so you can inspect how each core has behaved over time.
- Immediate minimum and maximum readings, plus the live temperature for quick reference.
How it runs and where to find it
SensorX operates quietly without interrupting your workflow. The app lives in the menu bar for one-click access to its readouts and settings while continuing to monitor in the background.
Customizable display and sampling
You can tweak how information is shown (alert types and display modes) and set how often the app updates its readings to balance timeliness and power use.
