Game snapshot
Scarlet Fate — also marketed as Scarlet Fate: Knights of Fantasy 2 — is a free-to-play, 2D idle action-RPG from Game Hollywood. It’s the follow-up to Knights of Fantasy and uses gacha mechanics to expand your roster. The title emphasizes streamlined, hands-off gameplay set in a colorful fantasy setting.
What gameplay feels like
Combat and most routine systems are largely automated. Your squad fights on its own to gather experience and loot, and progression is intended to be low-effort: you spearhead the overall strategy while the game manages the battles. This makes it quick to jump into, but it also reduces the need for active tactical decisions.
Story and player role
You take the role of the city’s Commander, a predefined protagonist with an established backstory and relationships with other characters. There isn’t any character creation or gender selection — the Commander is a fixed unit you deploy. The main plot revolves around protecting the city of Flora and completing tasks to help it thrive, but the narrative is fairly straightforward and secondary to the gameplay loop.
Progression and systems
The game lets you upgrade units, gear, skills, and other elements, and many of these systems include “skip” or auto-manage options to speed advancement. There are many features and menus available from early on, which can feel overwhelming without a guided walkthrough.
Highlights
- Fast onboarding: easy to get started and progress through levels with minimal micromanagement.
- Casual-friendly: good for short sessions, since most actions run automatically.
- Gacha recruitment: a randomized character acquisition system expands your roster.
Caveats
- Over-automation: the heavy automation can make long-term play feel repetitive and disengaging.
- Minimal tutorial: with many features unlocked early, the lack of a clear tutorial makes it confusing at first.
- Story is secondary: plot and character development play a minimal role compared with the idle mechanics.
Interface and platform notes
Scarlet Fate runs in a web browser on PC, but the client behaves like a mobile build and cannot be resized — the display remains locked to a smaller, phone-like resolution even on large monitors. Expect to frequently tap or click the Main Quest prompts and reward icons (often marked with red exclamation points) to advance, since a lot of progression is driven by those quick interactions.
Verdict
If you want a casual, low-pressure RPG with vibrant visuals that you can leave running to collect rewards, Scarlet Fate delivers a straightforward idle experience. If you prefer hands-on combat, deep customization, or an immersive narrative, this title may feel too automatic and limited.
