Alternate ending and setup

Scarface reimagines the conclusion of the 1983 film by giving Tony Montana a second chance. Instead of dying in the final shootout, this version lets him survive and pursue vengeance, determined to rebuild the criminal empire he once lost. The game sets up an alternate timeline that drives the plot: retaliation, reclamation, and domination of Miami’s drug trade.

Your role as Tony Montana

You step into Tony’s shoes as he works to restore his position at the top of Miami’s underworld. The narrative centers on his comeback — reclaiming territory, eliminating rivals, and punishing those who betrayed him. While the story keeps Tony’s signature rage and ambition front and center, supporting characters receive less development than the protagonist.

Game world and structure

The game offers a wide, explorable version of Miami inspired by the 1980s. Players are free to cruise the city, interact with NPCs, take missions at their own pace, and change the balance of power through their actions. The open-world format borrows many familiar conventions from sandbox-style action titles: vehicle theft, mission hubs, side activities, and a variety of locales to control or contest.

Combat and mechanics

Combat gives you multiple engagement options. You can use an auto-lock targeting system for straightforward fights or switch to manual aiming for more precise shots. Damage is localized — hits to different body parts produce varied effects — which adds strategic nuance to firefights. A broad weapons roster and the ability to commandeer vehicles further diversify encounters.

Voice cast and authenticity

Tony’s in-game likeness is modeled after Al Pacino, but the role is voiced by André Sogliuzzo rather than Pacino himself. Several other actors from the original film return to lend their voices to familiar characters, helping to preserve a sense of continuity and atmosphere. Those performances, combined with period details, strengthen the game’s attempt to feel authentic.

Atmosphere and overall impression

Overall, the game aims for an action-packed, immersive experience that channels the excess and grit of 1980s Miami. Its strengths are the freedom of the open world and the visceral power fantasy of rebuilding a criminal empire. However, while it succeeds at mood and moment-to-moment gameplay, it can feel light on deeper character exploration beyond Tony’s arc.
