Sand Block — iPhone Puzzle Experience
Sand Block is a puzzle title built for iPhone where falling pieces convert into granular sand as they land. The core loop revolves around lining up and clearing sand segments of matching colors while managing limited vertical space in the play area.
Core Gameplay and Rules
Players place falling blocks that become sand on contact. When a continuous horizontal band of sand all shares the same color, that band is removed and the player scores points. Matches tend to be formed and completed as sand accumulates across the field, so careful placement is essential.
Controls and Piece Actions
- Rotate blocks to change their orientation and fit them into tight spots.
- Force a block to drop quickly to speed up placement and avoid buildup.
- Slide pieces horizontally to position them where they will form color sequences.
Objective and Scoring
The primary aim is to create and erase horizontal color lines, earning points for each cleared band. There’s a bonus for chaining erasures: consecutive clears in succession grant progressively larger rewards, so planning combos raises your final score. Points are awarded by forming matches that complete from the right side toward the left edge of the screen, so directing sequences across the playfield matters.
Time Pressure and Failure Condition
A constant risk comes from sand piling upward. If the sand reaches the top boundary of the screen, the run ends. Players must manage pace and placement under this pressure to stay alive and keep playing.
Strategy Tips
- Build toward combos: set up multiple potential clears so one erasure triggers the next.
- Keep the center area flexible to allow redirection of future pieces.
- Use quick drops when a situation is urgent, but rotate and slide deliberately when planning bigger matches.
