Overview of RoboForm
RoboForm is a password manager that keeps your website logins, secure notes, and personal details in a single encrypted vault protected by a single master password. Once your information is stored, the app can populate web forms and sign you into sites automatically, saving time and reducing repetitive typing.
Getting started and the master password
Set a strong master password when you first launch the program — this is the key that unlocks all the data stored inside RoboForm. Keep it confidential and memorable: anyone who learns this phrase will be able to access your saved credentials. You can also configure RoboForm to sign out after a period of inactivity or when your computer is locked for an added layer of protection.
How autofill and identities operate
RoboForm runs from the system tray and can hold multiple identities (profiles) for different people or roles. Populate identities with details such as phone numbers, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and national IDs. After saving those fields, filling out online forms becomes a one-click task. The login workflow is similarly streamlined: when you enter credentials on a site, RoboForm will prompt to save them and later fill them in automatically.
Anti-phishing and login protection
To reduce the risk of credential theft via fake sites, RoboForm checks the URL of a site against the URL associated with a saved login before completing a sign-in. That comparison helps prevent credentials from being submitted to impostor pages.
Password generation tools
If you need a strong password, use RoboForm’s generator. You can decide the length and which character types to include, omit characters that look alike (for example, 1 vs. l or O vs. 0), or restrict output to a hexadecimal set. This is convenient when you want unique, complex passwords without inventing them yourself.
Encryption choices
RoboForm supports several encryption methods for stored items, including AES and Blowfish as solid modern choices, as well as RC6, single DES, and 3DES. For most users, AES or Blowfish is recommended. (The app lets you pick among those algorithms when creating entries; it doesn’t go into deep technical comparisons in-app.)
Platform notes and recommendation
RoboForm is particularly strong on Windows and is easy to use for adding and invoking saved passwords and form data. While some macOS users may prefer alternatives such as 1Password, RoboForm remains among the best options available for PC users who want quick, reliable autofill.
