Quick overview
Ready to finally build the website you keep thinking about? RapidWeaver simplifies site creation and publishing with a tidy, user-friendly interface and tools for both beginners and those who like to edit code.
Content building blocks
Choose from a variety of page elements to assemble your site:
- Styled text blocks for formatted content
- Contact forms to gather visitor messages
- Movie/photo albums to showcase media
Themes and visual options
RapidWeaver ships with about 40 built-in themes, and many more are available from the developer’s site thanks to a vibrant user community. Pick a theme quickly by selecting one from the theme area in the lower portion of the main window.
Editing and file portability
If you know XHTML and CSS, you can tweak themes directly to suit your design needs, and more experienced users can work with PHP as well. The app uses an open “Sandwich” file format so you can continue editing your project outside the application if desired.
Publishing and previewing
Publishing is straightforward: after saving your page, enter your FTP (or .Mac/MobileMe) credentials and hit publish. Use the preview button in the top-left corner to see how pages will appear in a web browser before you upload them.
Who should consider it
RapidWeaver is ideal for anyone who wants a fast, attractive website without steep technical demands. While its simplicity and clean interface are strengths, very advanced users may find the tool less feature-rich than fully manual coding or professional web frameworks.
