A simple alternative to PowerPoint
Prezi is a flexible presentation platform that helps you build polished slideshows without needing PowerPoint. It offers a streamlined, no-cost version for basic use and supports multimedia — images, video, and voiceovers — so you can create anything from informal pitches to polished, feature-rich presentations.
Getting started quickly
Pick a template if this is your first presentation — it makes arranging your material much easier. Alternatively, you can begin with a blank canvas if you prefer full control. Add visuals, embed video, or record narration as needed. Editing is direct: click any element to move it, restyle it, or remove it entirely.
On the left side of the editor you’ll find the presentation “path” — this determines the order and zoom sequence between sections. Pay close attention to the path; if it’s not set up well, your presentation can become confusing.
When you install Prezi it typically starts a Pro trial so you can test all features. After the trial ends, the free tier still allows editing and sharing, but storage is limited and your presentations will be public unless you upgrade. Check Prezi’s website for current account limits and upgrade options.
How it feels to use
The interface is intuitive and flows naturally, so you can dive in without needing extensive tutorials. There are helpful online resources and a built-in help system if you want to learn advanced tricks, but most users can produce good results with minimal training.
A different way to present
Prezi offers a fresh take compared with traditional slide-by-slide tools. While PowerPoint remains powerful, Prezi’s zooming canvas and non-linear navigation make it easier to present complex, content-rich topics in an engaging way. It strikes a balance between simplicity and capability.
