Use a USB stick as a physical lock for your computer
Think of your USB flash drive as a physical key for your PC — just as you lock your front door or car, you can secure your computer with a small removable device. Predator converts a standard USB drive into that key, preventing others from using your machine when you're not present.
How the USB key operates
Once configured, Predator writes a special authentication token to the USB stick and runs quietly in the notification area. It continuously checks for the presence of that token, refreshing it every few seconds to keep protection reliable and resistant to tampering.
What happens when you step away
If you remove the USB device, Predator immediately denies access: the monitor goes dark and input from the keyboard and mouse is ignored. This locks the workstation instantly, ensuring your session is inaccessible while you’re away.
Resuming your session
To unlock the computer, simply reinsert the same USB flash drive. Predator detects the token and restores the desktop and input devices so you can continue working without re-entering complex credentials.
Ease of use and room for improvement
The program is straightforward to set up and operate, making it convenient for everyday use. However, it would be more user-friendly with clearer explanations of features and a comprehensive help section to guide new users through configuration and troubleshooting.
Quick recap
Predator offers a simple way to block access to your PC using a USB memory device, combining the familiarity of a physical key with automatic locking and unlocking for short absences.
