Quickly locate your cursor
This small preference-pane plugin puts a visible image on the screen so you can spot your mouse pointer instantly. It’s especially handy when your desktop is crowded with many open windows and controls, and you regularly struggle to find the cursor.
Recommended tool
PinPoint (free) is a good choice for keeping the pointer easy to see. It provides a selection of graphic markers — for example, a radial burst or a very large arrow — so you can pick the style that stands out best on your display.
What you can adjust
- Change the pointer graphic’s size and overall appearance.
- Fine-tune the animation speed to suit your workflow.
- Alter color and opacity so the marker remains visible without being distracting.
- Set precise on/off timing (down to the second) for automatic toggles.
Note: the draggable sliders used to set some values felt a bit awkward during testing.
Recent improvements
After extensive testing and many bug fixes, the next major release, PinPoint 3, is nearly ready. Release Candidate 3 is targeted as the final build — try it to see the refinements and stability updates we’ve made.
