Brief overview
Photo Grabbr is a small utility for grabbing photos hosted on Flickr. If you follow an account that posts strong images or belong to a Flickr group you enjoy, this tool can collect their pictures and save them to your machine.
Using the application
Launch Photo Grabbr and pick your search type from the drop-down menu, then enter a username, user ID, or group name. The search process can be somewhat slow, but when it finishes you’ll see all available photosets for that source. Tick the sets you want and press the download button to fetch the images.
Downloads can take a while, especially for large albums, so make sure you set the destination folder correctly in preferences before you start. Also confirm that the Flickr account’s license permits you to reuse or keep the images.
Limitations to be aware of
- Photo Grabbr does not currently support downloading video content from Flickr.
- The app’s search and download speeds are not the fastest, so patience may be required for large jobs.
- Always respect the original uploader’s permissions and licenses when saving or using their photos.
Recommended alternative
If you need another option, consider JDownloader — a freely available download manager that can handle many hosting sites.
Recent changes and data handling
- Tags assigned to each image are written into the saved file’s Spotlight (or equivalent) comment field.
- A leading, sequential number is added to filenames so the original download order is preserved.
- When you download a set, an XML document is produced that includes photo descriptions, tags, and the set’s description.
