Overview
Wondershare’s PDF Editor for macOS is a comprehensive utility for revising and annotating PDF documents. It enables direct changes to PDF content or repurposing PDFs for broader edits while keeping fonts, layout and embedded images intact.
Primary capabilities
- Convert PDFs into editable Word files while preserving original fonts, layout and images.
- Apply markups and hand-drawn annotations (highlights, sticky notes, underlines, strikethroughs and more) with customizable colors and line widths.
- Edit text and page elements directly: insert, reposition, remove or alter text and images within a PDF.
- Work with encrypted documents, including converting protected PDFs and lifting copy/print restrictions when you have the required credentials.
- Add electronic signatures by importing scanned handwritten signatures, and use both preset and user-created stamp types.
Text editing details
When you change text, the editor attempts to match the surrounding font automatically so inserted content blends with the existing layout. Full text operations — add, move, delete or modify — are handled inline without exporting to another app.
Annotation and drawing tools
A toolbar provides a variety of annotation options to emphasize or comment on content: shapes (rectangles, ovals, clouds), lines and arrows, freehand sketching, text boxes and a palette of color and stroke-weight choices to suit different review needs.
PDF conversion specifics
The conversion feature exports PDFs into fully editable Word documents with close retention of original styling and embedded graphics. Even some encrypted PDFs can be converted; files protected by passwords will require the correct passphrase before conversion or editing.
Signatures and stamps
You can scan a handwritten signature into an image file and place it on PDF pages as an electronic signature. The app also supports both built-in and custom stamps for quick visual tagging.
Notes and system info
This application is designed for macOS. Password-protected PDFs demand the appropriate password before you can edit or alter permissions.
