Because PCem does not include proprietary firmware, you must obtain the correct ROM images separately. After downloading the appropriate ROM files from other sources, place them into PCem’s ROM directory. From there you can create or select a machine profile and launch the emulated system.

If you need a free alternative with a different focus, Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 SP1 is an option to explore. It is easier to set up for modern Windows guests but does not aim to reproduce extremely old or obscure hardware with the same level of detail as PCem.
