Quick Snapshot

Once Human is a free-to-play, third-person multiplayer shooter set in a supernatural, post-apocalyptic setting. Formerly known as Project E.O.E., the game blends action shooting with RPG-style progression and survival systems. Players control mutated survivors who have developed unusual abilities after an alien contagion devastated much of humanity.

Gameplay Essentials

  • Large, explorable world featuring multiple unique biomes and rival factions to meet — some will help you, others will hunt you.
  • More than 100 weapon blueprints scattered across the map that you can collect parts for and assemble into functional firearms.
  • Base and shelter construction using the Territory Core, allowing players to customize a home base for storage, crafting, and defense.
  • Skill and equipment progression that lets you fashion distinct builds, combining mutations and gear to suit playstyles.
  • Resource gathering, scavenging, and improvised defenses are central to staying alive in the wasteland.
  • Combat encounters range from extraterrestrial monstrosities to humans twisted by infection, each requiring different strategies.

The World and Its Threats

An alien entity called the Stardust arrived and unleashed a lethal contagion that decimated global populations. Survivors who resisted the fatal course of the disease sometimes emerged altered — meta-humans with unique powers. You take the role of one such survivor, forced to travel a devastated landscape, confront former humans who’ve become predators, and try to carve out some hope for the planet. Survival priorities include securing supplies, crafting weapons, and finding allies or avoiding hostile groups to survive longer.

Multiplayer, Servers, and Seasons

Once Human completed Early Access and launched fully, with several quality-of-life and account changes based on player feedback.

  • Players can now create multiple characters across servers instead of being limited to a single character per account.
  • Cross-platform play is supported in most circumstances, though a few exceptions apply depending on region and platform.
  • The game uses seasonal servers, each with distinct scenarios that can alter rules and story beats; at season end, key resources can be carried into your personal domain, Eternaland.
  • Server lists and regional availability issues were addressed so players across locations can find and join available servers.
  • Rewards are maintained consistently across different scenario types, allowing you to pick servers by preferred playstyle (PvP or PvE) rather than reward differences.

What Version 2.0 (Dreamveil) Adds

The Dreamveil update expands the game with new activities, gear, and systems aimed at diversifying PvE content and base options.

  • Endless Dream: a new PvE scenario set inside an ever-changing dreamscape where players hunt a central entity and cleanse Dream Zones afflicted with stacking environmental effects.
  • Public test of a job/class system that introduces commoner roles — examples include positions like gardener, beastmaster, and cook — each granting role-themed abilities.
  • Dreamland Fantasia seasonal event offering theme-park-style activities and mini-games that reward players across difficulty tiers.
  • RaidZone (early access) delivers fresh building pieces — ladders, shutter doors, iron mesh walls/floors — plus the option to place barricades directly in the field for tactical advantage.
  • Crafting and resource changes: disassembly benches in personal territories are now limited, while Advanced Disassembly Benches found in the wild break items down much faster.
  • New weaponry and balance adjustments: additional craftable revolvers and exploration-only arms (for example, a compound bow) appear in the world, alongside tweaks to existing weapons and Deviations to reshape combat approaches.
  • Miscellaneous quality-of-life improvements, including reduced repair expenses and refined camera controls, to smooth the gameplay experience.
