Installing and navigating the interface

The installer is straightforward and finishes quickly with only a few clicks. After setup, launch the program to begin immediate monitoring. The main display is compact and sits on top of other windows by default, but you can minimize it to the system tray to reduce clutter.

The primary view is intentionally simple: a small chart shows current network activity and highlights the maximum connection speed observed. Download throughput is shown in red while upload throughput appears in green, making it easy to distinguish the two at a glance.

Live usage and readings

NetMeter begins collecting bandwidth data as soon as it runs. A live bar/graph updates continuously so you can watch speeds fluctuate in real time. If you prefer a quicker summary, a numeric readout along the bottom of the window provides instant values for immediate reference. Sending the program to the tray still allows fast access to these statistics when needed.

Usage summaries and exporting reports

The Totals & Reports area generates summaries of transferred data over selectable periods — daily, weekly, and monthly — and also keeps cumulative totals since installation. Reports include uploaded and downloaded volumes, peak and average speeds, and other basic metrics. You can export these summaries in CSV format for archive or further analysis.

Limitations and final thoughts

NetMeter does one thing and does it well: monitor internet speed and consumption. Its simplicity is an advantage for users who want hands-off bandwidth tracking, but it lacks advanced extras such as traffic shaping, per-application breakdowns, or alerts.
