Quick summary
My Time at Sandrock is a paid 3D role-playing/simulation game from Pathea Games that casts you as the town’s indispensable builder. Styled as a cute, sandbox life sim, it’s the follow-up to My Time at Portia and the second full entry in the My Time franchise. You run a workshop, take on requests from townsfolk, and help a desert settlement recover and thrive.
Core gameplay at a glance
- A deeper narrative focus with dozens of new characters and hundreds of side quests, giving the sequel more story-driven content than its predecessor.
- Pets that can be adopted, leveled, outfitted, and even sent into battle to support you.
- Traditional crafting and base-building systems where you design machines, fulfill commissions, and upgrade your workshop.
- Open-world exploration and resource gathering across a desert-themed map to supply your projects and missions.
- Real-time combat that returns with expanded mechanics to keep encounters fresh.
Origins and how Sandrock grew
My Time at Sandrock began as an idea to expand the Portia experience, originally planned as downloadable content. During development it was enlarged into a standalone sequel. The series keeps the cozy vibes inspired by Harvest Moon and Animal Crossing—gathering materials, crafting items, and building relationships—while adding fresh systems and a new setting: the sun-baked city-state of Sandrock.
What’s new compared with Portia
Sandrock preserves the core loop of collecting resources and completing NPC requests but enlarges almost every aspect: more characters to meet, a broader quest list, a stronger narrative thread, and expanded combat. The visual style and workshop progression will feel familiar to Portia players, but expect more content and mechanical polish aimed at a longer playtime.
Preview of the V1.3 free update
A forthcoming free update (V1.3) will introduce several systems designed to deepen immersion:
- NPC-owned animals become adoptable after you reach high friendship levels.
- Adopted pets will be able to fight alongside you; their effectiveness depends on rarity and level.
- Pets gain strength via battle experience and can be buffed by feeding and equipping gear.
- Cosmetic and functional accessories are unlockable to personalize your companions.
Keep in mind this is an early look at the update rather than a complete changelog.
Practical details
The sequel is substantially larger than the original—reflecting its expanded content—and requires roughly 20 GB of free storage as a minimum. Expect longer playtime and more in-game systems to explore compared with My Time at Portia.
Why you might enjoy it
If you like relaxed crafting sims with meaningful relationships, but want added combat and a richer story, Sandrock blends those elements well. It’s aimed at players who enjoyed Portia but are ready for a beefier sandbox experience set in a charming desert community.
