About the app and its creator
Mi Senado is a complimentary Android application created by the Colombian Senate to let citizens engage directly with plenary sessions as they happen. It was developed to expand public access to legislative work and is promoted as one of the first tools of its kind that connects the public with parliamentary activity in real time.
Key capabilities
- Watch live plenary sessions through an integrated livestream feature.
- Submit non-binding opinion votes during debates and see those responses reflected immediately.
- View the aggregated feedback from users that appears alongside official results in the chamber.
- Consult the day's plenary agenda and review the text of legislative proposals.
- Check which senators are marked present in a given session.
- Reach out or stay connected with senators through the app’s contact and information options.
Why it exists and what it doesn’t do
The app is designed to increase public participation and make Senate proceedings more transparent. However, any votes cast by users are advisory only — they are “votes of opinion” and carry no legal authority over the Senate’s official decisions.
How to use Mi Senado
To participate, install the Android app, open the session you want to follow, review the agenda and bills, join the livestream if available, and, if you wish, register an opinion vote while the debate is ongoing. Results of citizen polling are displayed for senators to review but do not alter formal outcomes.
Alternative option
Vibras — free: if you’re looking for another app focusing on civic engagement, Vibras is a freely available alternative that some users may prefer for different features or interface choices.
