Overview of the Mera Ration application
Mera Ration is a government-supported, free mobile application developed by the National Informatics Centre (FCA Division) to assist implementation of the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC) initiative. Its design focuses on helping ration cardholders — especially those who have moved for work — to access subsidized food supplies and related information even when they are away from their home district or state.
Who manages it and why it exists
The app was created under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, specifically the department handling Food and Public Distribution. Its goal is to simplify ONORC-related services for beneficiaries covered by the National Food Security Act (NFSA), as well as for Fair Price Shop (FPS) operators and other stakeholders involved in public distribution.
Key functions and user benefits
- View your foodgrain entitlement and check recent transaction history.
- Register as a migrant beneficiary so you can obtain subsidised rations while away from your home state.

Known limitations
A small number of users have reported occasional technical problems, including app freezes or unexpected crashes. These issues appear sporadic and do not affect the majority of users, but they can interrupt access for some at times.
Quick summary
Mera Ration brings ONORC services to users’ phones, making it easier for migrants and other ration cardholders to locate FPS outlets, check their entitlements, and obtain subsidised food away from home.
