Marvinter is a free adventure game for Android created by the University of Skövde. The title is presented entirely in Swedish and adapts characters and themes from the popular Barnradions Christmas radio series. It’s aimed primarily at children and young adults and places players in a cozy, festive setting.

Plot and role

You play as hustomten Jenny, a practical trainee working at Gråspiks pensionat. One day the guest list explodes with mythical visitors: an important meeting has drawn trolls, vättar, a Bäckahäst and even a giant with a sore tooth. Jenny’s task is to keep the peace, help each visitor with their problems, and stop the situation from spiraling into chaos.

How the game plays

Marvinter is divided into 24 short chapters, with a new chapter becoming available each day until Christmas Eve, creating an advent-style progression. Gameplay is interactive: you solve puzzles, speak with the creatures, and explore different rooms and environments. The title supports audio-only play, making it accessible for players with visual impairments. Note: some players report that TalkBack may need to be turned off for the best experience.
