Marvel Heroes is a free-to-play action RPG that blends fast-paced dungeon crawling with iconic Marvel settings and characters. Players run through comic-book inspired stages as their favorite heroes, brawling with street thugs and supervillains while collecting loot and improving their abilities.

Combat and perspective

Combat is straightforward and visceral: you guide a hero from an overhead view and unleash their powers to clear rooms and overcome foes. Whether your character relies on ranged blasts, electrical attacks, magic, or brute force, the focus is on dynamic, satisfying moments rather than complex micromanagement.

Customizing your hero

Each hero can be specialized to match your preferred tactics. Leveling grants points and options that change how abilities function and how the character performs in combat. For example:

• One build might emphasize defense, turning skills into protective buffs.
• Another build might focus on offense, allowing a skill to become a long-range, bouncing attack that clears groups.

Because skills, stats, and gear can be combined in many ways, two players using the same hero can play very differently.

Roster and progression

The game offers a large selection of heroes — well over fifty, spanning teams like the Avengers and the X-Men. New players can test any hero up to level 10 for free, which exposes their base kit. To access a hero’s full power set (up to the level 60 cap), you must unlock them permanently. The first unlock is provided at no cost; subsequent hero unlocks require payment.

Updates and expanded content

Since its launch in 2013 the game has received regular updates, adding new characters, costumes, missions, and systems that deepen inter-hero synergies. The 2016 update introduced more realistic takes on some characters and a new story arc centered on a “Secret Invasion” theme, among other additions.

Loot grind and optional purchases

As with many loot-driven titles, progressing to obtain every desired item requires time and repetition. The large amount of free content makes the game accessible, but players who want to accelerate progression or reduce grinding can opt to buy upgrades or conveniences.
