Quick summary
ManyCam is a webcam and live-streaming application from Visicom Media that offers both a free tier and paid subscriptions. It runs on desktop and mobile platforms and is commonly used by educators, streamers, telehealth providers, and content creators who need multi-source video, effects, and live production tools.
Supported platforms and typical users
- iOS and Android mobile devices
- macOS and Windows desktops
Who commonly uses ManyCam:
- Online teachers, virtual tutors, and e-learning instructors
- Twitch and game stream broadcasters
- Healthcare professionals doing teleconsultations
- YouTubers and social media video makers
Pricing model and limitations
ManyCam is available as a free download with optional paid plans. The free edition includes a decent selection of built-in effects but places a permanent ManyCam watermark on video output, which some users consider unprofessional. Paid tiers unlock additional features, remove the watermark, and increase available resources.
Core capabilities
- Combine up to 24 distinct video sources in a single session (mobile, webcam, desktop capture, IP cams, etc.)
- Picture-in-picture layouts, overlays, and virtual backgrounds (chroma key supported)
- Screen and application window sharing for presentations and class materials
- Integrated media playback and the ability to layer graphics over live video
- Easy swapping between sources and scene-like control for live streams and recordings
Installing and importing effects
- Download and install ManyCam for your operating system. You may log in or skip account creation by closing the sign-in prompt.
- In the app, open the effects panel (magic wand icon). Create new folders by clicking the small plus/folder control near “Effects” and give each folder a descriptive name.
- To find more effects, visit the ManyCam website and open Resources → Effects. Browse categories or use the search to locate items.
- Click the green Download button on any effect you want. Once downloaded, drag and drop files from your Downloads folder into the ManyCam folder inside the app to make them immediately available.
- Remove an imported item by hovering over its thumbnail and clicking the red X. Click any imported effect to toggle it on or off. Resize or move overlays by dragging corners or repositioning with the cursor.
Managing sources and scenes
- Right-click the live video preview to choose a source: Desktop, media file, EasyCamera, game capture, IP cameras, mobile app feed, YouTube URL, etc.
- Select Media Files to play local videos or images directly in the main view.
- Use EasyCamera to place your camera inside a framed layer or reverse that layout so other content appears in front of or behind your webcam.
- To share specific slides or windows (for example Google Slides), right-click → Desktop → App Window and select the application window you want to show. Right-clicking on different frames controls whether that window appears large or small in your layout.
Alternative software options
- XSplit
- Wirecast
- YouCam
- StreamYard
- OBS Studio (Open Broadcaster Software)
- Ecamm Live
- ChromaCam
- CamTwist
Note: Most of these options offer free versions or trials, but free editions often add watermarks or limit features; Ecamm and Wirecast are primarily paid products with trial periods.
Tips for a more professional setup
- Upgrade to a paid plan if you require watermark-free output and extra production features.
- Use a green screen plus chroma key for cleaner virtual backgrounds and overlays.
- Organize frequently used effects into named folders for quicker access during live sessions.
