Secure communications with people you already know
Keybase is a free, open-source application built around public-key cryptography. It lets you send messages, exchange files, and publish documents with strong cryptographic protections so conversations and shared content remain private and tamper-evident.
Getting started
To begin, download the Keybase client for your platform and create an account. The app generates cryptographic keys for your devices and links them to your Keybase identity, so your contacts can verify that they’re communicating with the right person.
Add contacts using social profiles
You don’t need someone’s email address or phone number to connect. Instead, Keybase allows you to find and verify people by their social media handles — for example, Reddit, Twitter, or GitHub usernames — and to prove ownership of those accounts before establishing an encrypted link.
