Design the character you want with inZOI: Character Studio

inZOI: Character Studio is the demo component of the upcoming life-simulation title inZOI, developed and published by KRAFTON Inc. It focuses on letting players craft highly detailed characters—called ZOIs—so they can visualize alternate lives before the full game launches. In this demo you can build a character from scratch, customize facial and body features, and dress them to match the style you’re aiming for.

Key capabilities in the demo

  • Reuse creations later: characters you build in the Studio can be exported to the full game when it arrives, allowing you to jump into the main experience with pre-made personas.
  • Extensive customization: the Studio provides more than 250 distinct customization points, enabling fine-grained adjustments to appearance.
  • Realistic visuals: the demo runs on Unreal Engine 5 to produce lifelike graphics and detailed character models.
  • Expression capture and storage: a smartphone-based facial recognition tool can record expressions, which the Studio can photograph and save to the built-in UGC repository called Canvas.

Visuals and character options

The demo emphasizes realism: detailed body shapes, facial topology, and a wide wardrobe selection that you can mix and match to reach a specific aesthetic. While the focus is on visual fidelity and breadth of sliders/options, the interface is oriented toward creating a character you’ll be able to carry forward into the full release.

How saved content and sharing work

Canvas acts as the in-demo platform for storing and sharing screenshots, expressions, and UGC. The Studio’s mobile facial-capture feature lets you swap expressions quickly and capture those moments for later use. When the main inZOI game is available, the characters and assets saved in Character Studio are intended to be usable there, giving you a head start.

Present limitations and known issues

  • Gender-restricted clothing: many outfits are currently locked by gender, so traditionally feminine pieces cannot be placed on male ZOIs and vice versa.
  • Reported loss while saving: some users have experienced ZOIs disappearing when attempting to save them to Canvas.
  • Account requirement: a Krafton account is necessary to create and save characters in the demo.
  • Connection to KRAFTON’s other titles: since KRAFTON publishes PUBG (PLAYERUNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS), Character Studio shares technical and design elements with their existing character editors—some features (like flexible clothing options) are less permissive here than in other KRAFTON titles, but this may change with updates.

Quick summary

inZOI: Character Studio gives an early look at the creator tools for inZOI, emphasizing hyperrealistic visuals and deep customization via Unreal Engine 5 and hundreds of tweakable options. It’s a useful way to design and preview ZOIs before the full game launches, but currently requires a Krafton account and has limitations such as gender-locked clothing and occasional saving issues.
