These quick views make it easy to confirm a drive’s identity and monitor its operational state.
Included maintenance utilities
- SSD Optimizer — tools intended to keep SSD performance healthy over time
- Secure Erase — a factory-reset style wipe that fully clears supported drives
- Diagnostic Scan — checks the drive for errors and reports any faults
Note: these maintenance actions are only available for officially supported Intel hardware.
Interface and limitations
The tool is functional but the visual design feels dated compared with more modern utilities. Also, some powerful features are restricted to Intel-manufactured storage; they won’t run on third-party drives.
Alternative option
If you use drives from another vendor, consider the vendor’s own utility (for example, Samsung provides Magician for its SSDs), which offers comparable status monitoring and maintenance tools tailored to those products.
Recommendation
If you own Intel SSDs or Optane Memory, installing this utility is worthwhile — it centralizes health checks and maintenance procedures that can help extend drive life and sustain performance.
