Efficient photo size reduction for faster sharing
You just finished a session of great shots and want to show them off, but large image files slow down uploads and sharing. This utility — available as a trial — tackles that problem by shrinking already-compressed JPEGs so they take up noticeably less space without obvious loss of detail.
What the compressor does
Rather than simply repacking the file, the program inspects image pixels and selectively optimizes them. In my tests, final JPEGs were roughly 20%–45% smaller than the originals. Even after zooming in, the visual quality appeared almost unchanged from the source files, so the savings come with minimal perceptible degradation.
Extra tools included
- A 3D web album feature that presents a set of photos in a scrolling, three-dimensional layout (best results with about 30 images or fewer).
- A comparison utility that lists technical differences between two images, useful for spotting subtle changes after edits.
- Photo editing options with Photoshop-like filters for quick retouches and tweaks.
Limitations and annoyances
The 3D album is visually appealing, but it has a major shortcoming: there’s no built-in export/share option. If you move, copy, or email the album files, the presentation stops functioning. That makes it difficult to distribute the 3D view to friends or publish it online.
Summary
This image optimizer offers meaningful file-size reductions and useful extras like quick retouch filters and an image comparison tool. The 3D album is a fun addition but suffers from poor portability. If your priority is saving upload time while keeping image quality high, this is worth trying — just be aware of the sharing limitation for the 3D presentations.
