Product overview
IDroo, developed by Iteral Group, is a complimentary virtual whiteboard that connects directly with Skype. It lets multiple people draw, write, and work together on the same canvas in real time. Everything added to the board is visible to everyone participating, and the app includes specialized math-typing tools that make step-by-step problem solving easier than on many basic whiteboards.
Starting a collaborative session
How to invite contacts and open a shared board:
- Open the IDroo application on your device and sign in.
- Allow IDroo to access your Skype contacts when prompted so it can display your contact list.
- In IDroo’s Participants pane, tap the plus (+) icon to bring up your Skype contacts.
- Select one or more people from the list and press Add to send them an invitation.
Notes: Each invited person must have IDroo installed to join the session. Once they accept, they will immediately see and contribute to the board. The whiteboard supports an unlimited number of participants, which makes it suitable for classes and large team meetings.
Drawing, editing and file support
What you can do on the canvas:
- Add text, shapes, lines, or freehand strokes using a variety of tools.
- Apply different colors, then change fonts and stroke thickness to refine your content.
- Insert images (PNG, JPG) and documents (PDF, Word) by dragging them onto the canvas or pasting them in.
- Pin document pages to the background so they stay fixed while you annotate over them.
All uploaded files and the drawings themselves remain editable after placement. The board extends infinitely in every direction, so you won’t run out of space as ideas grow. The built-in formula/Math toolbar provides ready-made equations and symbols, which is especially helpful for teaching or demonstrating mathematical steps.
Limitations and practical considerations
Things to keep in mind before choosing IDroo:
- Some advanced capabilities (for example, certain document handling features) require a paid subscription.
- Performance may degrade with many active participants; you can experience noticeable lag.
- Drawing with a mouse on a desktop can feel awkward; users get the best results with a tablet and stylus.
- IDroo itself does not carry audio. Because it integrates with Skype, you can run Skype’s voice or video alongside the whiteboard for live discussion.
Who it’s best for
IDroo is a practical option for educators and teams that want a shared, always-expandable workspace with math-specific tools. While it has a few drawbacks (performance at scale, some gated features), its unlimited participant support and simple Skype integration make it a solid choice for online lessons and collaborative sessions.
Quick summary
IDroo offers a free, Skype-linked whiteboard with an infinite canvas, editable uploads, and math-focused tools. It’s well-suited to teaching and group work, provided you account for its performance limits and the optional paid features.
