At a glance
IDPhotoStudio is a tiny, portable utility for quickly producing passport-style photos. It’s free and focused on getting prints out fast with minimal fuss, but it sacrifices many editing capabilities that users might expect from a photo application.
How it operates
The program is straightforward: drop an image onto the window, choose the desired ID format, specify how many copies you want, then hit Print.
- France-sized ID
- Canada-sized ID
- United States-sized ID
A simple slider lets you pick the number of photos per sheet (from 1 up to 15), and a single Print control sends the layout to your printer.
What it can do
- Drag-and-drop image placement for a rapid workflow
- Quick selection of common ID dimensions
- Immediate printing without complex setup
- Portable build that runs without installation
Important shortcomings
While the app succeeds at speed and simplicity, there are several limitations that affect photo quality and flexibility:
- Images may be stretched or squashed because the program does not preserve the original aspect ratio when resizing.
- Only two color filters are available: sepia and monochrome.
- There are no practical photo-editing tools such as crop controls, red‑eye correction, or brightness/contrast adjustment.
- No undo option — accidental edits require starting over with the original file.
Who this is best for
If you already have a well-composed, correctly framed headshot and simply need quick, printed passport-sized copies, this tool will get the job done. If you need to retouch, crop, correct color, or otherwise improve the image before printing, you’ll likely want a more fully featured editor.
