To use HEY you create an account and receive an @hey.com address. From there, the app uses a permission-first system: when a new sender appears, you decide whether you want their messages in your inbox or blocked from future delivery. That Yes/No choice keeps uninvited or low-priority senders from crowding your view.

Rather than one long chronological stream, HEY separates email into clear collections so you can focus quickly. The app groups messages into dedicated areas; here’s how they’re arranged:

Paper Trail — transaction-related messages such as receipts, order confirmations, and service notices are collected here so you can reference purchases and accounts easily.
Imbox — prioritized messages from people and services you’ve approved land here; this is where you’ll find emails that require reading or a reply.
The Feed — newsletters, promotions, and other casual content are presented in a scrollable, already-open format that feels more like browsing than inbox triage.
