What this plugin does

GrowlCamino adds Growl-style notifications to the Camino web browser. Camino itself is valued for its lightweight, straightforward approach, but it lacks a notification system comparable to Growl. This plugin fills that gap by providing non-intrusive alerts for common browser events.

Installing and where to find it

GrowlCamino installs like a standard preference pane and becomes available inside Camino’s Preferences. After installation you can enable or disable the extension from there and configure which events should trigger a notification.

• Download progress and completion messages
• Alerts when pop-up windows are blocked
• Notices for bookmarks being imported or exported

You can also selectively mute specific notifications so you only receive the alerts you care about.

User experience

If you already use Growl, you’ll likely appreciate how unobtrusive the notifications are. They appear in a small, dark notification bubble separate from the browser window, rather than interrupting your workflow.

Removing the plugin

The only real inconvenience is uninstalling it: you’ll need to manually remove the plugin file from your Library’s Application Support area (for example, within ~/Library/Application Support). There’s no automated uninstaller, so a bit of manual cleanup is required.
