See the globe from your own sofa
The official Street View experience from Google brings many of the world’s most beautiful cities and famous monuments to a pedestrian-level viewpoint. It lets you move from an overhead map into first-person street photography so you can examine neighborhoods, sights and landmarks in detail — all without leaving your home or spending a penny.
Key capabilities
- Enter full 360° street panoramas and look around as if you were standing there.
- Step inside selected museums, historic sites and other indoor attractions to explore their interiors.
- Shift smoothly from a standard map view into a ground-level, on-foot perspective.
Ways to find places to visit
If you’re not sure where to start, the app provides multiple discovery options:
- Search by themed Collections (for example: “island escapes” or “architectural highlights”).
- Navigate the familiar map interface and zoom to any street to drop into Street View.
- Browse curated selections that highlight neighborhoods, attractions or seasonal recommendations.
Contribute your own images
Much of the imagery comes from community contributors as well as Google’s camera cars. If you’d like to add to the map:
- Use the built-in guide to capture 360° panoramas with your phone.
- Upload panoramas and individual photos directly from the app to share with other users.
- Follow simple on-screen instructions to stitch and publish your photos so they appear alongside existing imagery.
Why travelers and researchers like it
Street View is an engaging tool for virtual sightseeing, trip planning and local research. It allows you to preview routes, inspect destinations up close, and discover corners of the world you might never visit in person. Because contributors continually add new images, the collection keeps expanding and evolving.
