Quick summary
Garena+ is a free platform that combines multiplayer gaming with social tools — instant messaging, voice rooms, tournaments and both digital and in-person community events. It began in Southeast Asia but supports players across the globe, letting people team up and chat regardless of their country.
Social and messaging tools
Garena+ offers familiar messaging functions so players can stay connected while gaming.
- Buddy lists to track and message friends.
- Private messages for one-on-one conversations.
- Group chats for coordinating teams or communities.
Accounts are represented by usernames and avatars, and users can message individuals or multiple people at once. The system behaves much like an instant messenger, with options to form persistent groups and maintain contact lists.
Tournaments and meetups
The platform runs competitive events and also organizes face-to-face gatherings.
Garena hosts the Garena Premier League (GPL), an online tournament series that has expanded to include competitors from many countries. Matches are often recorded with commentary and published on Garena-related YouTube channels.
Offline events — commonly known as Garena Carnival or community meetups — give players a chance to interact in real life, attend panels, and take part in live competitions.
Voice communication: Garena Talk
Garena Talk is the built-in voice system accessed from the Garena messenger window. Users can create or join voice rooms and choose whether rooms are public or private.
Within a voice room, players can:
- Test audio and microphone settings.
- Toggle an in-game overlay that shows who’s speaking.
- Invite others or hide/minimize the overlay with a hotkey.
The overlay is a small pop-up that lets you adjust audio and mic settings mid-game and see speaking indicators beside usernames. Garena Talk works with both Garena-published titles and many non-Garena games — useful for teams coordinating strategy, sharing map positions, and improving gameplay through live communication.
Games, shows, and exclusive content
Garena+ features gaming content and original media.
- League of Legends
- Heroes of Newerth
- FIFA
- A.V.A.
The service also produced a free radio/web show called TalkTalk, which focuses on eSports and League of Legends and is available on YouTube. Many community-created channels centered on Garena titles can be found by searching for Garena plus the game name.
Payments and in-app purchases
Although Garena+ is free to download, it offers a virtual currency called Garena Shells for optional purchases.
- Shells bought at retail outlets and authorized resellers.
- Shells topped up online via the in-app payment menus.
Garena Shells are sold in bundles, are non-refundable after purchase, and can be exchanged for in-game items, upgrades, or converted into compatible point systems. They work across Garena’s PC and mobile ecosystems.
Mobile support and features
Garena+ runs on Windows PCs and on mobile (iOS and Android). It is not available for macOS.
Mobile versions include instant messaging, contact lists, and performance tracking so players can check rankings and stats on the go. Popular mobile titles associated with the Garena ecosystem include:
- Arena of Valor
- Call of Duty (mobile titles partnered with Garena regions)
- Garena Free Fire
The mobile app also offers features like the Magic Spin, which can award free in-game items.
Installing Garena+
To install the PC client, download the installer from the official page and follow on-screen prompts.
- Click the green download button on the download page.
- Accept the terms and complete the installation.
- Register by entering an email, username and password when prompted.
After installation, Garena presents its catalog of games and social features. In some regions, Garena acted as a regional publisher for titles such as League of Legends, integrating game access, account management and currency systems for local players.
Community and updates
Garena+ emphasizes community-driven play — connecting users through chat, voice and tournaments while offering periodic software and content updates across PC, Android and iOS. The client notifies users when new versions and game updates are available, ensuring the platform and supported titles remain current.
