Overview of the Game
Galactic Dorm is a free, top-down survival title that mixes hide-and-seek mechanics with base-building and resource management. Its art style will feel familiar to fans of social deduction games like Among Us and its many lookalikes. You hide from a monstrous attacker while simultaneously assembling defenses so your room doesn't get overrun. Cosmetic skins let you change your appearance — everything from superhero outfits to cute mascots.
How a Match Unfolds
Each round kicks off with your character selecting a room to shelter in before the beast begins its assault. While hiding, your avatar passively earns gold tokens by tapping at a terminal. Those tokens are the currency for buying and improving the equipment needed to survive.
Fortifying Your Shelter
You can construct several automated and passive defenses to keep the monster at bay. These include, for example:
- A portal that spawns computer-controlled soldiers to engage the creature on your behalf.
- A repair unit that continuously fixes damage to your door.
- An automated firearm that shoots at the monster when it comes into range.
All structures and the door itself can be upgraded, but improvements require a steady flow of tokens.
Characters and Their Strengths
Playable avatars come with different passive bonuses. A couple of examples:
- The Billionaire-type character generates in-game money at an accelerated rate.
- The Iron Man-esque character deals stronger damage when attacking.
Regardless of which character you pick, the rest of the cast may appear as allied NPCs to help. Keep in mind: each ally killed by the monster increases its power level.
Economy, Power, and Monetization
There’s one important downside: progression can be slow. Many weapons need electrical power provided by a solar generator, which is expensive to build early on. Because resource gains are limited, the quickest route to rapid upgrades tends to be via in-app purchases.
