Quick snapshot
Flying Tank is a high-intensity shoot ’em up with classic bullet-hell design. Players pilot a heavily armed tank to push back an invading extraterrestrial force that has decimated human civilization. The title pairs striking visuals with demanding gameplay that rewards reflexes and precise movement.
Story and world
A century ago, alien visitors arrived on Earth, and humanity’s willingness to welcome them ultimately led to catastrophe. Nations fell and survivors scattered: some turned feral, others adapted to the new order, and a resistance movement — the Earth Reclamation Forces — rose to drive the invaders out. Pockets of hope, like the Providence underground farms, shelter those still fighting for a future free of alien occupation.
How controls feel
- Touch and swipe input govern movement and aiming, letting you slide your tank around dense patterns of enemy fire.
- You can switch between a main and a secondary weapon, enable full-auto firing, activate a special attack, and drop explosive ordnance while dodging incoming projectiles.
Loadouts and combat customization
- Equip bombs, companion drones, and various upgrades to tune your tank’s offensive and defensive performance.
- The loadout choices let you adapt playstyle—favor heavy firepower, support units, or survivability depending on each mission’s demands.
Progression and replay value
- Missions can be replayed regardless of outcome; doing so contributes to the Mastery Wreath, a system that unlocks rewards.
- Mastery prizes include new tanks and biomass resources used to expand your capabilities.
- Note: if you pick the optional easy difficulty, the game currently requires starting a new campaign to return to the standard difficulty setting.
Who should try it
This is a strong pick if you enjoy visually bold, action-focused shooters that test hand–eye coordination. While an easier mode exists, the default challenge is substantial and will push players who like intense, pattern-based combat.
Suggested alternative
If you’re looking for a different experience to balance nostalgia and fresh challenge, consider Super Mario Bros 3: Mario Forever Free — a distinct platforming option with its own charm and difficulty curve.
