Overview & Purpose
FlashDim — soften your phone’s torch
With Android 13 came support for multiple flashlight intensity levels. FlashDim makes full use of that capability, giving you precise control over the device torch. The app focuses on practical lighting options for everyday use, emergencies, and creative signaling — all while keeping things lightweight and private.
Functions at a Glance
- Interval / BPM mode for repeating flashes or tempo-synced light patterns
- Morse-code transmission mode for sending short, encoded messages
- SOS signal button for emergency situations
- One-tap shortcut buttons to jump to saved brightness presets
- Smooth, incremental dimming to fine-tune output between levels
- Simultaneous-press volume keys to toggle the torch on or off
- Quick settings tile for immediate access without opening the app
- Offline operation with no advertisements and no network access required
- Uses Material You (M3) styling so the app’s palette responds to your system theme
Quick Access & Usability
FlashDim includes several convenience features designed to speed interaction. A quick settings tile puts controls within swipe-reach, and an option to flip the torch by pressing both volume buttons allows hands-free activation. Preset shortcut buttons let you jump instantly to commonly used brightness levels, while a smooth dimmer gives fine-grained adjustment when needed.
Privacy, Performance & Visual Design
The app runs entirely on-device and does not connect to the internet, which eliminates tracking and unwanted network activity. You’ll also find it free of ads. Visually, FlashDim follows modern Material You (M3) guidelines so its colors and accents adapt to your system theme for a cohesive look.
Suggested Replacement
If you want an alternate app to try, consider SM Flash — a free utility for managing flashlight brightness and basic torch controls.
