Premise and Setting

Fear Equation places you on a retrofitted freight train battling a supernatural mist that turns passengers’ deepest fears into reality. You play as the Engineer — the person responsible for interpreting survivors’ dreams and building protections to keep everyone alive while the fog closes in.

Core Gameplay Loop

The game is turn-based and focuses on tactical decision-making. On your turns you will:

• Scavenge the surrounding railcars for materials and supplies.
• Design and deploy defenses to counter manifestations spawned by the fog.
• Study passengers’ nightmares to predict future threats and optimize your responses.

Management and Progression

Resource scarcity is central to the challenge. You must prioritize upgrades, allocate limited parts across the train, and decide which systems to reinforce. Upgrading locomotives and carriages changes tactical options and unlocks new defensive tools.

Narrative Depth and Social Dynamics

Each survivor brings their own theories about the fog’s origins, and those beliefs can spark factional divisions between cars. Those tensions influence interactions, mission options, and narrative outcomes, so both diplomacy and planning matter. The combination of strategy mechanics and a branching story makes each campaign feel distinct.
