Overview of the app
Exif Metadata Editor is an iPhone utility that lets you inspect and modify the metadata embedded in image files. Use it to see when a photo was captured, correct the date and time, or tidy up other descriptive fields stored with the image. It gives direct access to details about the camera used, and lets you alter those fields when needed.
Core capabilities
- Add or change GPS coordinates attached to a photo so you can assign any location you choose.
- Edit the original capture date and time to correct incorrect timestamps.
- View and modify camera-specific fields (make, model, aperture, shutter speed, ISO, etc.) to reflect accurate shooting information.
- Browse the full metadata block for any image, including EXIF, IPTC and other tags.
Why the location feature helps
Being able to set or replace GPS tags makes it simple to group photos by place or build location-based albums. Rather than relying on automatic geotagging, you can assign precise or corrected locations to images for better organization.
Privacy and data handling
All metadata changes are performed locally on your device — the app does not upload your photos or metadata to external servers. Your images and the metadata edits remain on your phone unless you explicitly share them, so there’s no background transfer of your picture data.
