Overview
Endoparasitic is a premium PC action-horror title from Narayan Walters. It’s a top-down, 2D survival horror game with a stark, pixel-art aesthetic and tight, tension-driven gameplay. The central conceit is grim: a lone laboratory researcher, grievously maimed by a spreading parasite, scrambles to preserve crucial data before infection claims them completely.
Setting and story
You play as a researcher stationed at an isolated research outpost on an asteroid after a catastrophic parasite outbreak. During the initial attack you lose three limbs and are left barely alive. With time running out and the parasite advancing toward your brain, your goal becomes painfully simple — drag yourself through the facility and recover what’s needed to save your work and possibly expose the disaster.
Core gameplay
Presented from a top-down viewpoint, the game forces you to inch through dim corridors and cramped rooms with very limited sightlines. Every encounter requires careful planning because your physical condition heavily restricts your actions. Combat is deliberate and unforgiving, stealth is often the safer option, and environmental puzzles block progress until you work out how to bypass or manipulate them.
Weapons and action constraints
- Your arsenal includes a set of four different firearms, but each shot must be carefully aimed — you fire only a single projectile at a time.
- Because of your injuries, you cannot perform two actions at once: movement and firing are mutually exclusive.
- Encounters often reward patience and positioning over brute force; sometimes avoiding detection or solving a puzzle is the only way forward.
Challenge and length
The title leans into a steep difficulty curve, particularly in the final segments where encounters become much more punishing. Expect a short overall runtime — most playthroughs take only a couple of hours — but the concentrated challenge and atmosphere make those hours intense.
Final impressions
Endoparasitic delivers a focused, high-tension experience that blends minimalist visuals with a morbidly original premise. Its limitations — brief length and a sharp difficulty spike — are balanced by tight design, unsettling enemies, and clever puzzles. If you enjoy compact, punishing survival-horror games with a strong sense of atmosphere, this one is worth sampling.
