Elmedia Player for Mac (Free) is a lightweight multimedia player for macOS that handles a wide range of audio and video files. It’s the no-cost edition of the more fully featured Elmedia Player Pro; the Pro release adds online video downloading, a true full-screen playback option, and a snapshot/capture utility.
User interface and library features
The player’s appearance and navigation resemble iTunes, making it simple for mac users to get started. You can:

- Generate intelligent playlists based on custom criteria that the app uses to sort and update content automatically.
- Organize your media collection with familiar controls and simple list management.
File types supported
Elmedia Free plays numerous common and legacy formats, including:

- FLV and SWF
- XAP (Silverlight)
- RM / RV (RealMedia)
- Plus other widely used container and codec types
What the free edition cannot do
Although functional for local playback, the free build lacks several Pro features:
- No option to grab or download videos from web pages.
- Full-screen viewing is not available in this edition.
- The snapshot tool for saving still frames from video is disabled.
Additional technical notes
During installation the player may add helper components intended to cache streaming video for smoother playback. While this can improve buffering behavior, it’s worth noting if you monitor extensions or auxiliary processes.

Version 4.1 focused on improving the app’s online video downloading capabilities and included various other enhancements and bug fixes.
