Product overview
EasyScan is a document and image scanning application created by Philippe Mignard, a French inventor and entrepreneur. It is designed to work with a wide range of printers and scanners and relies on the TWAIN standard to communicate with imaging devices. Because it uses TWAIN, EasyScan is intended for systems that support the TWAIN interface.
Scanning methods and image quality
The software supports multiple scanning modes and lets users adjust image quality and clarity to suit different needs. While RGB is a common channel for screen display, it has limitations when encoding certain bitmap formats. To address those constraints, the developers incorporated support tied to the IBM‑PC Color Port architecture so the tool can better handle a variety of file formats and color workflows.
Supported output formats include:
- JPEG
- GIF
- BMP
Files produced in any of these formats can be scanned or converted using EasyScan.
Compatibility with Windows versions
EasyScan aims to remain compatible with a range of Windows releases. It supports legacy editions such as Windows XP, Vista and 7, as well as more recent builds (including Windows 2021). TWAIN compatibility is the key requirement for the software to function on a given machine.
Installation, portability, and driver options
Installing EasyScan on a laptop or desktop enables scanning from that computer, but it does not make a physical scanner itself portable. For users who need additional support or updated device drivers, alternative installation packages and driver tools are available.
